A Day in the Life of a Nail Artist: Kimberly

The nail artists at Sparkle SF are what make the salon and the experiences we offer special. Each person on the team is an independent entrepreneur within the business. Everyone here brings something different to the table via their unique style, personality, and history. This week I’d like to introduce our readers to Kimberly aka @0nemorecoat - our resident queen of long, glam talons. She’s so chill, sweet and colorful that an ice cream sundae would be jealous. Read on for a peek into a day in the life of this amazing nail artist...

How did you get started doing nails?

I had just graduated college and was working part time at a hair salon as a receptionist. Being super inspired by all the boss babes that ran their businesses there, I thought I’d ask if I could set up the spare room as a nail room if I went to beauty school. The salon owner welcomed the idea and off I went. I always had a interest in the world of nails and decided to start a new path apart from my background in cosmetics and stage makeup/design.

What are your favorite types of nail designs to do?

My favorite types of nail art includes textures, stamps, line work, embellishments and anything on a long stiletto.

What do you love most about being a nail artist?

I love being able to connect with people, share a moment over art and make folks feel glamorous.

Any advice you’d give to those looking to get into the industry?

I’d advise new nail artists getting into the industry to turn off your like counts on your IG posts and not compare yourself to others.

How do you practice self-care as a nail tech?

My self care is practicing work/life flow and never being shy about taking a vacation to see the world.

What did you eat for breakfast today?

Breakfast was avocado toast today!
